With the imminent expiration of three more RFactor 2 licenses at the end of this year (in addition to the previously expired Silverstone license), RF2 appears to be nearing the end of its journey. However, this is not the end for one of the great FFB and physics game engines... rather Le Mans Ultimate is the successor to RF2. Although not branded RFactor 3, LMU keeps much of the greatness of RF2 while leaving behind most of the mess.
