With the sad breaking news this week that the Northern National Restoration Group (NNRG) announced that they had lost their home depot storage facility at Philadelphia Houghton Le Spring County Durham.
The organised Friday Night Chippy trip that was planned recently still went ahead and became the surreal moment that this is the last time a bus full of passengers will depart from this depot ever again.
The group must vacate the building by December 2025.
Please check my community page posts for updates.
Here is a brief video of highlights from the night.
We hop aboard NK54 NVN - Scania L94UB/Wright Solar (5217)
New to Go Ahead group in 2004 and was posted to operate from South Shields depot ,in standard red, blue and yellow livery after a couple of weeks service, the depot was closed and 5217 was transferred to operate from Deptford depot as part of massive allocation changes and new services such as The Prince Bishop brand services 20/20A/X20 between Durham and Sunderland. 5217 was repainted in a purple base livery with 'Prince Bishop" branding decals.
5217 is dedicated to Chris Moyes, and original member of the board of directors of the company following the management buy out during the privatisation of the National Bus Company.
In 2016 was repainted back into plain red corporate livery operating from Chester-le-Street depot.
NNRG purchased the vehicle in 2019 after her withdrawal from service at Go Ahead for preservation and was repainted back into her original livery in 2023.
Hope you enjoy ?
Hold On Tight Please !
