In this video I show you how my girls and I make wild apple sauce from apples we picked off of a tree growing on the side of the road. There's lots of those around here, and if you find a good one, you can get many pounds of food off of it for free. Pretty amazing, considering we have our own small apple orchard here on our homestead. But the trees are still so young, we don't get much off of them. The tree we picked these from, it just grows there with no love or care, but produces many pounds of food! So with a ladder and some time we picked lots of apples to make into apple sauce. These apples we picked were not a good keeping apple, so had to be used up right away. So first we washed and cut the apples, boiled them. Then we sent them through our Johnny Apple Sauce Maker. We put the apple sauce into jars, and pressure canned them for 10 minutes at 5lbs pressure. Now they are sealed and ready to go into the pantry for winter. Making your own food and storing it for winter is so satisfying!
