Midgauge Fairisle Round Yoke Cardigan Front Bands part 2

This is support video, part 2, for the Bands and Buttonholes lesson for the Midgauge Fairisle Round Yoke Cardigan pattern. It demonstrates knitting and finishing the button band and buttonhole band on basic knitting machines, including the LK150 and KX350, but is suitable for all knitting machines.

Most written patterns simply say something like, “Knit 10 rows at main tension -1 full number, turn tension dial up 2 numbers, knit 1 row, return to tightest setting, knit 10 more rows. turn tension dial up 3 full numbers, knit 1 row. Bind off. Turn band to inside and sew in place.” For an experienced knitter, that is enough information.

A newer knitter usually would prefer a little more. I’m showing some tips and tricks to help you knit and finish better bands, both on the button band, and the buttonhole band. Then at the very end I place the cardigan flat on a table, so the completed yoke, neckband, and top half of the bands can be clearly seen. Notice how the neckline is shaped. This is why I recommend short rows below the yoke. Without them, the front neck is the same height as the back neck, and I find that uncomfortable.
