Heartbreak Hotel, the classic Elvis hit, on dulcimer, bass, and trumpet, performed with my new friend, Charlie Harris, at the Troubadour Concert Series's 50th Birthday Show.
The Birthday Show is like a musical blind date: On July 4, a bunch of musicians get randomly paired up, and they have three weeks to prepare a song or two for the show. The object of the game is for everybody to have fun, and we succeeded.

This song was written by Mae Boren Axton (mother of singer-songwriter Hoyt "Joy to the World" Axton) and Tommy Durden, with Elvis Presley credited as a third writer (probably just as a sweetener to get him to record it, though I've seen conflicting stories). Technical dulcimer details: Chromatic Folkcraft, tuned CGC and played in D (in order to end with the maj7 chord). In the verse and solo where Charlie puts down his bass, I use an octave pedal to get down.
