Legendary Col du Grand Colombier from Lochieu (France) - Indoor Cycling Training

Cycling from Lochieu to the Grand Colombier is an iconic route that offers both a challenge and breathtaking views. Grand Colombier itself is often compared to the likes of Mont Ventoux and Alpe d’Huez, both titans in the cycling world. First featured in the Tour de France in 2012, it quickly became known as one of the most challenging climbs in the Tour's repertoire. Grand Colombier is one of the few in France that has four ascent routes. This route begins in the small village of Lochieu, located in the heart of the Bugey region. The climb is notorious for its steep gradients, with certain sections reaching up to 15%, making it a true test of endurance and strength. The road is relatively narrow, winding through lush forests and open meadows, before culminating in the exposed summit.

Instead, we recommend adding your favorite music to the ride. It is quite simple. Mute YouTube and open a browser window. Find a site that offers music (Spotify, YouTube, etc.) pick the music you like, and enjoy the ride... We have left the original sound of the ride out. This is because the noise from passing cars, vibrations from the road, wind, and the rider's breathing drowns the natural sound of the surroundings.
