Blood Mountain is one of the most well-known and challenging peaks on the Appalachian Trail, rising to 4,458 feet and marking the highest point on the AT in Georgia. It is also one of Georgia’s 32 peaks over 4,000 feet, set within a rugged stretch of North Georgia wilderness. Over the years, the mountain has developed a complex and sometimes sordid reputation, shaped by past tragedies and more recent attention surrounding a missing hiker in the area. In this video, we hike the Byron Herbert Reece Trail to the Appalachian Trail and follow it up to the summit of Blood Mountain.
