If you’re experiencing hip, back, or neck pain, it might be because of your foot. In this video, I’ll explain what a varus forefoot is and how it affects the body above. These adaptations often lead to pain that doesn’t respond to stretching, strengthening, or other treatments. That’s because these approaches don’t consider the need for these adaptations in the presence of a varus forefoot.
I’ll show you three common adaptations, like a turned-out foot, a rotated pelvis or spine, and an abducted leg. These can cause problems around the hip, the back, adductors, glutes, and even the neck (even if it’s just limited mobility). I hope this shows how clever the body is and how where we think we have a problem is actually the body’s way of coping.
In this video, I’ll give you an overview of a varus forefoot, how to test yourself for it, and what to do about it. For the solution, we use Anatomy in Motion wedges, but you could also use a folded towel to replace the wedge. I hope you find this helpful - pronate and supinate your foot, move your body, and watch the magic happen!
Enjoy!
