Hi and welcome to the channel. In this video you see me make a lidded box from a small, Jenga style block game and epoxy resin on the woodturning lathe.
I started this project 6 months ago in October 2020, this was when the blocks were glued together and the resin poured. For this I used Alumilte Clear-cast epoxy and a mix of blue and red dyes.
I have been looking at this block for a very long time thinking how best to use it and a small lidded box seemed like the best option. I do have a second block like this so if you have any suggestions of what else I can make from it then please let me know in the comments.
There were a few setbacks like tear-out of the soft wood and the resin chipping at times rather than cutting but I like how it finished up. I also lost a little height do to a bubble in the resin, there was also a smaller bubble in the side. I put this down to not having a pressure pot and the reason why I don't turn a lot of resin projects.
Sanded, sealed and polished with Yorkshire grit, original and microfine, then topped off with a walnut handle for the lid.
