Here is the second set of microgames from Design Challenge #2, whose theme is sports. Anything works, and apparently, even channel surfing can count as a sport.
This set, unfortunately, has some problems. Most are perfectly playable and are quite solid as far as microgames go, but some of them have ridiculously low margins of error, and at least one can easily and frequently does create unwinnable situations through its randomizer.
1. "FOOTBALL" from Logan: This one worked out something that could've been troublesome--as the opposition only comes in pairs, there is never a case where you can't find room to pass through.
2. "Kitty Curling" from Matt: Quite random, but I'm also quite happy that a SECOND curling game made it in. Interesting bounce physics.
3. "Zombie Bowl!" from Chris: You pretty much click and win. The zombies have incredibly small movement ranges, so as long as you roll the ball, you will hit them.
4. "Hop n' Hurry" from Danii: It seems hopscotch counts as a sport too. This one works just fine.
5. "Soccer Tap" from Sam: This would probably be much better-suited for the DS. There's a lot you have to click for in this microgame, and the Wii Remote isn't quite precise enough for it.
6. "Final Pin" from -=TAS=-: Quite interesting artwork. For some reason, I feel more impressed when I see lots of color blending.
7. "Super Dash" from STB: The stick figure you're playing as ducks for a pretty short amount of time. Despite what it make look like over here, I very often lose the microgame because he gets up before the block has passed by fully.
8. "Fish!" from Tyler: It's just like the Animal Crossing microgame from Smooth Moves!
9. "Carted Off" from Pasta: Quite clever when it comes to the animation. And it looks like something I see quite often in golf.
10. "Fever Pitch" from Gabriel: You're playing as the ball here? Quite creative! Though a later one has you play as something even more unlikely.
11. "Swattin'" from T-Mania: The ball travels slowly enough that you're able to react in time. However, I wish the guy could've jumped faster.
12. "No I In Team" from David: Here's the more unlikely one--you play as the AUDIENCE. The young man will remain confused until you fix the signs the audience is holding.
13. "Hole in One" from Doopliss: This is one of the problem microgames. To win the microgame, you need to hit the ball and not let it hit any birds. However, there are four of them at a time and they appear randomly. This basically means the entire microgame can go by without giving you an opening.
14. "Relay Race" from Nelson: This microgame didn't need a button. It would've run more efficiently if you were just watching the runners. But I guess many people who play this game are so used to buttons.
15. "Hockey Dog" from Malamite: According to the creator, the dig's name is Pepper. The crosshairs determine the direction of the puck, so you can't necessarily aim when it's directly in front of the goal.
16. "Pokerballs" from Hudson: Did we really need to have both the ball AND the cue move up and down?
17. "Baceketball?" from Prog: I like the turkeys that run by when you win.
18. "Dodge Boggle" from 123James: This is another problem microgame. This is basically much like "Swattin'," except it goes fast. TOO fast. At the slowest speed, you're given about 1/4 of a second to react. When it gets any faster, you're asked to either duck or jump almost immediately, making it something of a coin dlip.
