Groundbreaking of the Korea Agricultural Machinery Industry Complex (KAMIC) and Turnover of DA Interventions to Central Luzon Farmers

“This is one of the projects that we have long looked forward to, knowing how essential reliable machinery is to our farmers... We all know of the hardships that come with farming,” President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said after leading the groundbreaking ceremony of the Korea Agricultural Machinery Industry Complex (KAMIC) in Barangay Kalikid Sur, Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija.
KAMIC is the country's first farm machinery manufacturing complex. Its aim is to improve the nation's ability to develop and manufacture agricultural equipment. Designed with Filipino farmers in mind, these tools will help increase agricultural productivity, enhance crop quality and ultimately raise farmers’ income.
In his message, the President emphasized that farming machinery boosts efficiency and profits in agriculture. However, much of the equipment that could make farming easier still needs to be imported from overseas.
“This complex will be built for Filipino farms tended by our local farmers…Gone are the days when our farmers will have to wait for the parts for their equipment. No more overpriced equipment. No more farmers left behind in farming technology,” he said.
Recognizing the vital role of Korean partners, he expressed his deep appreciation to the Korea Agricultural Machinery Industry Cooperative (KAMICO) for its trust in Filipino farmers and for its contributions to the shared progress of both countries.
The Chief Executive also reaffirmed that the government will continue to promote policies that protect international investments in the country. “Our partnership together brings technology and hope to these individuals who nourish and who sustain us,” he continued.
Along with the ceremonial groundbreaking, the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech) and the Department of Agriculture (DA)–Central Luzon also distributed various agricultural equipment and farm inputs to farmers in Central Luzon (Region III). These included four-wheel-drive tractors with implements, mechanical planters, combine harvesters, hand tractors, hybrid seeds, fertilizers, foliar inputs and soil ameliorants.
“To our farmers, we hope these machines will lighten your load. Never naman mangyari na magiging madali ang pagsasaka. Pero sana mapabilis ang trabaho ninyo at sana naman ay mapagaan ang inyong trabaho para naman magkaroon kayo ng panahon na makasama ang inyong mga mahal sa buhay. Imbes na nandoon kayo sa bukid na nagtatrabaho ay nandiyan kayo kasama ninyo ‘yung inyong pamilya,” he added.
Furthermore, the President emphasized that agriculture is the heart of the Philippine economy, affirming that the government will continue to support the agricultural sector through technology and ongoing assistance that Filipino farmers rightfully deserve, aligned with the needs of the modern world.
“With the help of KAMIC and the hard work of our farmers, I am confident that our nation’s future will be more prosperous…Together, we will build productive fields here in Central Luzon and across the country where every farmer can stand tall and be dignified for the work that he or she does. That is our continuing dream and that is what we will continue to work for,” President Marcos Jr. concluded in his message.
