Groundbreaking of the Korea Agricultural Machinery Industry Complex (KAMIC) and Turnover of DA Interventions to Central Luzon Farmers

Reaffirming the Administration’s commitment to strengthening the country’s agricultural mechanization and continuing support for Filipino farmers, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. leads the ceremonial groundbreaking of the Korea Agricultural Machinery Industry Complex (KAMIC) in Barangay Kalikid Sur, Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija on December 10, 2025.

Established through a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Korea Agricultural Machinery Industry Cooperative (KAMICO) and the Department of Agriculture (DA), in collaboration with the local government unit (LGU) of Cabanatuan City, KAMIC is the first facility in the Philippines dedicated to the assembly and manufacturing of agricultural machinery, such as tractors, harvesters, cultivators and seeders, designed to meet local farming conditions.

It aims to enhance the country’s capacity to manufacture, fabricate, and assemble agricultural machinery and equipment; boost agricultural productivity and crop quality; increase farmers’ incomes; and provide farm machinery suited to Philippine requirements.

KAMIC will be built on a 20-hectare property owned by the local government in Barangay Kalikid Sur, a location jointly approved by the DA and the City Government of Cabanatuan. Construction is scheduled to start in 2026 and will last nine (9) years, carried out in three (3) phases: Semi Knock-Down (SKD) Assembly, Complete Knock-Down (CKD) Assembly and Full Manufacturing Assembly.

Aside from the groundbreaking ceremony, the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech) and DA-Central Luzon turn over agricultural machinery and equipment to 44 Farmer Cooperatives and Associations (FCAs). Additionally, hybrid seeds and foliar inputs are distributed to support 22,103 hectares of hybrid rice for the 2025–2026 dry season cropping.
