How can you not like female jazz vocalists? My friends from "Mureka" did a great job here. Sometimes you have to sit back (after composing the tune) and let some other jazz cats take center stage. This is not a song that Julie London ever sang, but it was written with her in mind. 🤗
Julie was an American singer and actress whose career spanned more than 40 years. A singer noted for her contralto voice, London recorded over thirty albums of pop and jazz standards between 1955 and 1969. Her recording of "Cry Me a River", from her debut album "Julie Is Her Name", was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2001.
It's a shame (ha! ha!) she couldn't have sang my composition "Stopping by the Village Vanguard - On A Jazzy Evening". It's just a short humorous tune. Apologies and kudos to Robert Frost who inspired me to write it.
