This is a brief clip of our initial descent down the upper east slopes of Quandary Peak, a Colorado 14er, in 2017. We skinned/hiked up Quandary (14,265') with the hopes of skiing down Cristo Couloir, a moderately steep south-facing couloir that has a vertical drop of about 2,400'. Unfortunately, we (really I) summited rather late (~12:45pm) and, it being mid April, the snow conditions in the couloir had deteriorated enough that we opted instead to stick to the more mellow east slopes. Around 4-6" of snow had fallen the day/night before, so conditions were ok... dust on crust where it wasn't windblown and variable everywhere else.
Farther down (not shown), the snow got worse. All in all, a really fun day! I'm sure I will be back to get the couloir when it's good.
