NYCT B2 Bus Ride: 2022 New Flyer XD40 7941 from Kings Plaza to Midwood

Footage of 2022 New Flyer XD40 7941 operating on the B2 from Kings Plaza to the Kings Highway (B) (Q) subway station in Midwood. Flatbush Depot along with several Brooklyn Division depots will be the main recipients of these new Xcelsiors. These buses have a full roof enclosure, whereas previous XD40 deliveries have only had them halfway. As a result, these XD40s look similar to the XDE40s, but these are not hybrid buses. Additionally, the back doors on the new XD40s slide outward instead of opening outward. Along with the 2021 XD40s & XDE40s, the 2022 XD40s will replace the remaining Orion VII NG Hybrids at these depots.

The B2 is a local route which operates through residential areas in Midwood and Marine Park. Its primary purpose is a subway feeder to/from the Kings Highway subway station, although it is used by some to get to Kings Plaza mall. However the ridership patterns of both groups are very distinct from each other. Buses use Avenue R for about half their trip. In Marine Park, buses make several turns on a path close to the B100 bus route. To/from Kings Plaza, B2 buses utilize Flatbush Avenue.
