My Christmas crack recipe is about to crack the internet. My family and friends love this Christmas treat. This is my version of Christmas crack. Spray a cookie sheet liberally with nonstick cooking spray and line it with graham crackers. A lot of people use saltine crackers to make their Christmas crack. I don't like saltine crackers. Way too dry. People use saltines because they want that sweet and salty combination. I achieve that in a different way. Most times Christmas crack is made with a toffee based caramel sauce. You melt butter and brown sugar, wait for it to boil, pour it over, and when it hardens it's like toffee. That's where Christmas crack got its name from. I like to use soft caramels. I use Werther's Original. There's different brands. I like soft caramels better. Much more smooth and velvety. More buttery. Gives you that bang of caramel flavor you're looking for. Spread little caramel bits all over the graham crackers. Pop in a 350 degree oven for three to five minutes until the caramel melts and becomes bubbly. Take it out and spread the melted caramel all over the graham crackers. Be very careful. Hot sugar will burn your skin off. Sprinkle milk chocolate chips and peanut butter chips all over the top. Pop it back in the oven for two minutes till the chips start to melt. Spread the chocolate and peanut butter all over. This is the best part of being the chef. You get to lick the spoon. While still warm sprinkle your goodies all over the top. I have leftover bits of pretzels and potato chips. That's how we achieve our salty component. Leftover pecans from my pecan turtles recipe. Little chocolate mint goldfish cookies, Reese's Pieces, and Christmas colored peanut and plain M&Ms. Pop in the freezer or refrigerator for 10 to 15 minutes till the chocolate and caramel set up. Peel off the foil and break it into pieces. If this is not a plate of holiday cheer I don't know what is. That should be illegal. Every bite of sweet, salty, a little peppermint hint from those cookies. Absolutely divine. Chef tip. If you're making any holiday treat that has peppermint in it, that flavor will transfer to other cookies if you package them together. Package peppermint treats separately in cellophane bags then put them in the treat box. If you give this away or put it on your holiday table people are going to go crazy. Comment recipe below and I'll send it to your DM. Save this video because trust me you're not going to want to lose this. #ChristmasCrack #HolidayBaking #christmastreats
