On July 3, 2025 Brigadier (RTD) Wilson Boinett, former head of Kenya’s National Security Intelligence Service, currently the National Intelligence Service, and GLOCEPS Council of Advisors Chairperson, launched his book Fixing Spy Craft to Serve National Interests in Kenya.
The event marked a significant milestone in Kenya’s national security history, celebrating Boinett’s long-held vision of transforming the country’s intelligence apparatus from a colonial police-run Special Branch to a professional, civilian-led National Intelligence Service (NIS).
A central theme in the book is the alignment of intelligence with governance, diplomacy, and development, positioning it as an active and strategic element of statecraft rather than a secretive, backroom operation.
