Detroit Walking. Down Washington Blvd., through Grand Circus Park & Capitol Park to the TCF Center

Passing by Cliff Bell's jazz club, Edison Memorial Fountain in Grand Circus Park, Book Tower restoration, Stevens T. Mason memorial in Capitol Park, Book Cadillac hotel, The Detroit Free Press Building, TCF Center and a few historical markers, this walk has a lot to see. Not too mention all of the amazing architecture and storied locations along the way. There's lots to talk about in this video, and there's no way I can cover it all, so I'll link out to some of the highlights for you to read on your own.
We'll start with Cliff Bells; a true vintage Detroit experience for anyone visiting town, or for those jazz lovers amongst you. Next is the story of the Stevens T. Mason memorial. He was the youngest governor in history, at 22 years old, and the reason that Michigan became a state and gained the Upper Peninsula. After dying at age 31, he was buried under this monument. Unfortunately since then, the monument has moved around Capitol Park quite a bit, and the location of his remains is no longer certain. Lastly, I'll mention one of the historical markers that I found fascinating. "The Plaindealer" was one of the first African-American newspaper in the country, and it was based right here in Detroit.
