Warm, spicy, tangy and absolutely comforting — this Hot & Sour Soup is perfect for chilly evenings or when you crave something flavourful and soothing. Made with fresh veggies, bold Indo-Chinese flavours and simple ingredients, this recipe gives you that thick, restaurant-style texture at home.
In this video, I’ll show you step-by-step how to make the perfect Hot & Sour Soup with easy tips, substitutions and the right balance of heat and tang.

Ingredients:-
1 tbsp oil
2 tbsp soya sauce
1 tbsp green/red chilly sauce
1/2 tbsp vinegar
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp corn flour
(to make slurry add 1/2 water)
1 chopped capsicum
1 chopped carrot
1 bowl cabbage
1/2 bowl spring onion
1 green chilly
1 chopped garlic
4 cup water(for 4 ppl)
🍲 Method
1. Sauté the flavours:-
• Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan.
• Add chopped garlic and green chilli.
• Sauté for a few seconds until fragrant.
2. Add veggies:-
• Add carrot, capsicum, cabbage.
• Stir on high flame for 1–2 minutes to keep the veggies crunchy.
• Add spring onion (save a little for garnish).
3. Add sauces and seasonings:-
• Add 2 tbsp soya sauce, 1 tbsp green/red chilli sauce, 1/2 tbsp vinegar.
• Add salt and black pepper.
• Mix well.
4. Add water:-
• Pour 4 cups of water and let it come to a boil.
5. Thicken the soup:-
• Stir the cornflour slurry (2 tbsp cornflour + 1/2 cup water).
• Add it slowly into the boiling soup while stirring continuously.
• Cook for 2–3 minutes until the soup becomes slightly thick.
6. Taste & adjust:-
• Add more salt, pepper, chilli sauce, or a splash of vinegar as per taste.
7. Serve:-
• Garnish with spring onion.
