Only Beethoven would dare to write something like this

The coda of Beethoven's 5th symphony is outrageously simple and also hilariously funny. His wicked sense of humour of course borrows from Haydn but the added orchestral forces and relentless hammering of C major almost adds a sort of ironic majesty and force to an otherwise, rather humouristic passage. A series of false endings give the impression that the symphony is coming to a close before a surprising relaunch with even more intensity. This bit is remarkably well-paced with interesting unpredictable rhythmic repetitions of the same chord that could have inspired Stravinsky's Rite of Spring and tremendous grand tuttis that reinforce the triumphant shift from the tumultuous beginning in C minor to major at the end.
