CARTA is based out of the metropolitan area of Charleston, South Carolina.
Flxible Metro "D-series" were ordered in 1994 by the Bay Area, California-based transit agency, "Golden Gate Transit". The suburban configuration featuring one-door located only in the front; overhead luggage racks; reading lamps; and padded cloth-leather motor coach seats. Also featured are roll-signs that are hand-cranked by the bus operators in their cockpit area.
There are over twenty buses of this model in the fleet, but is undoubtedly the crown jewel of small transit agency. Operating only during weekday "rush hours" on three heavily ridden fixed-express routes.
