The Portsmouth Coastal Ultra 50K took place on 21st December, the shortest day of the year — perfect timing for a festive coastal adventure.
The route followed the stunning coastline around Langstone Harbour and out onto Hayling Island, with calm winter light, big skies, and beautiful sea views all day long. Despite the festive, relaxed atmosphere, the legs felt surprisingly good and I somehow ended up with a huge new 50K PB.
With daylight fading fast, the big question was whether I’d reach the finish before darkness set in. A gorgeous day, brilliant organisation, and a reminder that sometimes everything just clicks.
