BRIENZERGRAT / Hiking the Most Beautiful Ridge in Switzerland / Bernese Alps

⚠️ Things You Need to Know:
The route is not always marked, but the path is well visible along the ridge
Difficulty: T4+ max
Hardest part: East flank of Tannhorn, well secured with wire rope
Direct ascent on Tannhorn: T5+, exposed, high danger of falling rocks
Multiple descents available along the ridge for shorter routes
No water sources on the ridge — carry enough water, especially in summer
Camping is not allowed

Even though there are many Brienzergrat videos on YouTube, we wanted to create ours a little differently — to capture not only the landscapes but also the emotions this hike gives us.

For us, this ridge is very special. It’s more than just a trail — it’s a reminder of how beautiful, pure, and powerful the mountains are.
We love sharing these experiences, and we’re grateful to inspire others to explore nature.
We also know that not everyone can do such hikes, so we’re happy to bring this beauty closer to you — through our videos.

This amazing trail is located in the Bernese Alps, high above Lake Brienz, right in the middle of one of the most beautiful alpine landscapes in Switzerland.
We started this hike from Brienzer Rothorn, which means we shortened our hike by taking the famous historic steam-powered train up to the summit.
This saves around 4 hours of ascent time.

For those looking for a true challenge, the complete ridge starts from Brünig Pass — it takes about 4–5 hours to reach Brienzer Rothorn, followed by another 22 km of hiking all the way to Interlaken. Definitely an adventure to remember.

We did this hike in autumn, at the end of October, with strong winds and a dusting of fresh snow, but otherwise good conditions — mild temperatures and moments of sunshine.
Along the way, we met several wild ibex colonies, which made the journey even more memorable.
