As museums and the art market shift, Black art faces both unprecedented visibility and renewed threats of erasure. This talk dives into the power of Black visual culture, the legacy of artists from the Harlem Renaissance to today, and the crucial role Black collectors and allies play in preserving identity. Learn how representation in art shapes the future — and how you can help protect it. Armando Payton (aka TheOnlyArmandoYouKnow) holds a BFA from Howard University and is a dedicated collector of art, books, and ephemera. He is an advocate and amplifier of emerging artists, championing new voices and visions. His mission is to demystify and democratize art collecting for Black collectors while expanding the canon of Black figures in Western contemporary art. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
