The migratory season has begun at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, and the mudflats are slowly filling with returning shorebirds.
This scene shows a gathering of Whimbrels and other waders as they forage along the exposed shore. Their quiet movements and steady rhythm reflect the pace of the wetlands during this time of year.
Sungei Buloh is one of the best places in Singapore to watch these visitors arrive from long journeys that stretch across continents. From August to April, the reserve hosts species like the Whimbrel, Pacific Golden Plover, Common Greenshank, Common Redshank, and Lesser Sand Plover.
Alongside them, resident herons, egrets, and other wetland birds continue their daily routines.
Filmed at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve using my OM System OM-1 and 100–400mm II telephoto setup.
