Learn how to make a spicy and flavorful Coconut Red Chutney in just a few minutes! This South Indian-style chutney pairs perfectly with idli, dosa, upma, or uttapam. Roasted chana dal, dried red chilies, tamarind, coconut, and a hint of ginger come together for a vibrant and delicious side. Ingredients:
1 tbsp oil
2 tbsp chana dal
3–4 dried red chilies
Small piece of tamarind
1 cup grated coconut
Small piece of ginger
Salt to taste
½ tsp mustard seeds
½ tsp urad dal
Few curry leaves
Method:
Roast chana dal in 1 tsp oil until golden.
Switch off the gas, add red chilies, tamarind, coconut, ginger, and salt.
Grind everything into a smooth paste.
Prepare tadka with mustard seeds, urad dal, and curry leaves.
Pour over the chutney and serve fresh!
