Raja’s Seat is one of the most famous tourist spots in Coorg, located in the town of Madikeri. The name literally means "The Seat of the Kings".
Hundreds of years ago, the Kings of Coorg (from the Haleri Dynasty) used this beautiful spot as their personal place of relaxation. The "seat" itself is a small, square building made of brick and stone with four pillars and arches. Every evening, the King and his Queen would visit this garden to enjoy the cool mountain air and watch the sun set over the hills.
The garden is built on high ground, giving you a spectacular view of the green valleys and the winding roads below. Today, the area is a lush public park filled with colorful seasonal flowers and green lawns. It is a favorite spot for families because of the musical fountain that dances to music every evening and a toy train that takes children around the park.
