Spiti Circuit | Episode 9 – Part 1

This morning in Spiti began in silence.

I started the day at Key Monastery, one of the oldest and most powerful monasteries in the valley. Surrounded by mountains and cold wind, I sat down for meditation - a moment that slowed everything down. No rush, no noise, just breath, prayer, and stillness.

After the meditation, I had a chance to talk to one of the monks. We spoke about life, discipline, simplicity, and what it really means to be content. That conversation stayed with me for the rest of the day - simple words, but deep lessons.

From spiritual calm, the journey moved towards raw adventure. I headed to the Chicham Bridge, known as Asia’s highest bridge, connecting remote villages across a dramatic gorge. Standing there, looking down at the vast emptiness below, was both thrilling and humbling. Spiti has a way of making you feel small — in the best possible way.

Later, I made my way to Kaza, the heart of Spiti Valley. Walked through the local market, explored small shops, picked up a few things, and finally sat down for a much-needed lunch. Simple food, mountain air, tired legs — the kind of ending that feels earned.
