On the second day of the 46th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. chairs the 16th Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) Summit at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in Malaysia on May 27, 2025.
Established in 1994, the BIMP-EAGA is a cooperation initiative to spur development in remote and less developed areas in the participating Southeast Asian countries. The Philippines serves as Chair of this year’s Summit. The last one was held in 2023 in Indonesia.
This is also the President’s second participation in the BIMP-EAGA Summit.
During the meeting, he is set to highlight the progress made by BIMP-EAGA in the past eight (8) years. He is also expected to call for continued active participation of all BIMP-EAGA member countries and propose directives and priorities to help carry the BIMP-EAGA Summit forward.
