Shirley Temple - 40 Years of Movietone News Fox 1998

In 1998, the two-year-old Fox News Channel ran a series of weekend programs celebrating "40 Years of Fox Movietone News". One of the segments was dedicated to Fox's number-one star of the 1930s, Shirley Temple. Hosted by actor Alan Oppenheimer, this documentary is well done, featuring the exact newsreels that preceded theatrical showings of key Shirley films. It's an interesting look at an era that needed Shirley's talent, spark and optimism. Some of the newsreels are a bit intense, but the video is divided into chapters for selective viewing. A neat, seldom-seen broadcast!
