Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon: Part 38: Dino Mines Are Full of Dyno-Mite!

The Greatest Hits theme of this level is pretty nice. Originally, it just re-used Molten Crater's theme, but its true theme sounds like a remix of Sunny Villa, the very first "normal" level. How fitting, given that Dino Mines is the very last "normal" level.

This level is one of the more unnatural levels in the whole game. Why? BECAUSE IT HAS NO RHYNOCS!

All of the enemies you find here are dinosaurs! The green T-Rexes shoot guns at you, while the blue ones toss dynamite at you. There are also triceratops that shoot at you with gattling gun turrets, and seahorses underwater that also want to kill you. The main objective here is help Sheriff Wyatt of this Wild Wild Western take back his town from these thieving dino and bust him out of his own prison cell after the dinos tricked him into it.

This level also goes in a massive loop. You literally have to break down the Sheriff's cell the other side of the wall, because that's how those thieves keep escaping from his cell. You'll get an Egg from him and completely lower the cell, but then... for some reason... he leaves his town. Did he just appoint Spyro the new Sheriff? Who knows?

Now before that end, there are two sub-areas. One is in a flooded mine that Deputy Holiday has you swim through at high speed. It's like Seashell Shore's faster tunnel, but harder due to the logs and TNT crate you have to avoid hitting while heading towards the Egg at the end of it, or you'll have to start over. There are also seahorse enemies here. They don't have to be killed before reaching the Egg to actually get the Egg, but kill all of them any way if you want to get a Skill Point for it.

The second sub-area is for Agent 9. For this challenge, you go through an first-person rail shooter sequence (think Time Crisis), where the game automatically has Agent 9 move through different areas of Deputy Roy's side of town to shoot down more dinosaurs. You will have very limited health in this challenge, and not staying focus will have you swarmed with attacks.

One of the dinosaurs that will be passing by is a dark-green dino. If you can quickly shoot him, you'll get this level's second Skill Point, and the final Skill Point of the entire game! After you win this challenge can get the Egg, go through the whole town again to find any Gems you missed and even find another Egg. Shoot down windows here to find some Gems, too. You'll be doing that for a little while.

Lastly, I backtracked in the main area because I forgot an Egg and some Gems that were hiding in a secret wall of the underwater section.

Now, I have far more than enough Eggs to take on the Sorceress!
