Ewelme Cottage (pronounced yoo-elm) has been the historic home of the Lush family for several generations and has been reported by many over the years, to be haunted.
Constructed in 1863, the Kauri cottage was designed and erected by Reverend Vicesimus Lush (1817-1882) and his wife Blanche. The
cottage was enlarged by Blanche 18 years later, after the Reverend's death, and she remained there until she died in 1912.
With its well-preserved interiors and original furnishings, Ewelme has given generations of visitors a wonderful insight into colonial history, and the building techniques and materials of the time.
Through the years there have been stories told of hauntings and
strange activities within the cottage, so Paranormal NZ has made numerous after-hours visits to see if there was truth to the rumours.
