A sci-fi action drama set in a future dystopian Seattle, James Cameron's 'Dark Angel' (2000) was an ambitious series starring Jessica Alba as an escaped super-soldier hiding from government agents as a bicycle messenger. She teams up with an underground journalist (Michael Weatherly, pre-'NCIS') who's confined to a wheelchair. The pilot is believed to have cost upwards of $10 million. Producers ended season two on a cliffhanger, but the network changed its mind about renewal. The planned third season was never made but the show did help launch Alba's career. Dennis McCarthy ('DS9') scored the pilot and every episode, but he didn't get to do the series' opening titles. That went to Chuck D and Gary G-Wiz.
