ORANGE CAULIFLOWER RECIPE ✨
Ingredients:
half cauliflower head (cut into bite-sized florets)
1 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 cup chickpea flour
1/3 cup plain flour
1 tbsp. nutritional yeast
1/2 cup plant-based milk
salt and pepper to taste
*For the toppings: (optional)
chopped spring onions
sesame seeds
Sauce Ingredients:
1/2 cup orange juice
2 tbsp. maple syrup
1 tbsp. soy sauce
1 tbsp. rice wine vinegar
1 tsp cornstarch
1 tsp crushed ginger
1 tbsp. crushed garlic
2 tsp chili garlic sauce
2 tsp hoisin sauce
Method
Transfer the cauliflower florets in a large bowl. Pour boiling hot water and set aside for 30 minutes.
For the Coating:
In a medium-sized bowl, combine the chickpea flour, plain flour, nutritional yeast and plant-based milk. Gradually add 2 tbsp. of water and mix it well.
Drain the water from the cauliflower and season with salt and pepper to taste. Dip the cauliflower florets into the batter and coat with breadcrumbs. Next, place them on a baking sheet and bake it for 20 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius.
Prepare the Sauce:
Combine the orange juice, maple syrup, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, cornstarch, crushed ginger, crushed garlic, chili garlic sauce and hoisin sauce. Mix it well and set aside.
In a non-stick pan, pour the sauce mixture and stir until the sauce thickens. Add the baked cauliflower florets into the pan and give it a good stir, making sure that they are well coated with the sauce. (We use a smaller pan for the video but you can use a larger pan to cook them all at once. 😊) Transfer in a plate and top it with chopped spring onions and sesame seeds. Also, you can always make more sauce to drizzle on top, if you prefer. Serve immediately and enjoy with steamed rice.
