Orange cauliflower is a vegetarian version of the popular orange chicken. And trust me you won't miss the meat at all
Cauliflower florets coated in a sweet and sour orange sauce could melt in your mouth. I personally love this orange cauliflower than the chicken version of it. It's crunchy crispy and delicious.
ORANGE CAULIFLOWER
Preparation time – 10 minutes
Cooking time – 20 minutes
Serves – 2
INGREDIENTS:
For sauce:
Cauliflower florets - 15 nos
Citrus flavoured soy sauce - 2 tbsp
Sambal paste - 1 tbsp
Sriracha chilli sauce - 1 tbsp
Hoisin sauce - 1 tbsp
Sugar - 1 tbsp
White vinegar - 1 tbsp
Corn flour - 1 tbsp
Fresh orange juice - 2 oranges
For the batter:
Plain flour - 1 cup
Corn flour - 1/2 cup
Rice flour - 1/4 cup
Light soy sauce - 2 tbsp
Ginger & garlic paste - 1 tbsp
Water 1 1/2 cup
Salt to taste
For preparation:
Oil for deep frying
Oil - 2 tbsp
Ginger (chopped) - 1 tbsp
Garlic (chopped) - 1 tbsp
Spring onion (chopped) - 2 nos
Sesame seeds - 1 tbsp
INSTRUCTIONS:
1) Mix citrus flavoured soy sauce, sambal paste, sriracha chilli sauce, hoisin sauce, sugar, white vinegar, and cornflour in a bowl.
2) Add fresh orange juice to the mixture.
For the batter:
1) Mix plain flour, cornflour, rice flour, light soy sauce, ginger garlic paste, water and salt to taste.
2) Add cauliflower florets into the batter and coat evenly.
3) Deep fry cauliflower into golden brown and keep aside.
4) Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a wok.
5) Add chopped ginger and garlic and saute for a minute.
6) Add sauce mixture.
7) Cook till the sauce thickens.
8) Add fried cauliflower florets into the sauce.
9) Bind the sauce on cauliflower.
10) Add salt to taste.
11) Garnish with spring onions and sesame seeds.
12) Your orange cauliflower is ready to serve hot.
