The government says a major security swoop on city estates suspected to harbour sympathizers of the al Shabaab and al Qaeda militia was in the offing. Briefing parliamentarians on the progress of the military operation, assistant minister for internal security Orwa Ojode claimed that the funding and the planning of attacks by the militia groups was done from Nairobi and especially within the sprawling Eastleigh estate. Meanwhile, parliament went into a private session where Prime Minister Raila Odinga outlined the government's security plans even as the army moved to consolidate operation 'linda nchi'. Chris Thairu reports.
