FDC presidential candidate Nathan Nandala Mafabi has pledged to introduce policies to manage the sugarcane industry right from the farm level, saying the current system leaves farmers at the mercy of factory owners and middlemen. Mafabi says sugarcane farmers in Busoga have spent years trapped in poverty, and he plans to revive primary societies to protect growers. He made the remarks while campaigning in Mayuge District.
