On 13 December 2025, Great Western Railway’s High Speed Trains made their final runs, bringing to a close a story that began in 1976. For nearly five decades the HSTs were a defining feature of the Great Western Main Line, setting new standards for speed, comfort, and reliability and becoming one of the most recognisable trains in British railway history.
