CPKC 137 rolls through CP 482 and Porter, IN on Norfolk Southern’s former Conrail Chicago Line

CPKC 137 is a vehicle train that operates between Toronto, ON and Indiana Harbor Belt’s Gibson auto switching yard in Hammond, IN. Today’s train is led by CP8655, an AC4400CW and KCS 4817, an ES44AC. In tow they have 105 loaded multilevel vehicle cars. This train makes a stop in Wolverton, ON to make a large pick up at the Toyota plant located there.
When entering the U.S. in Detroit, this train uses a routing on the NS former N&W nee Wabash Detroit Subdivision to Butler, IN where it then switches to NS’s Chicago Line. The Chicago Line was previously Conrail/Penn Central/New York Central. At CP 502 in Indiana Harbor (East Chicago), IN the train turns onto the IHB’s Kankakee Line for the remainder of the trip to IHB’s Gibson Yard in Hammond.
You’ll see the train pass under the eastward home signals for CP 482 in Porter off in the distance, come under Interstate 94 and the across Mineral Spring Road. The 105 cars includes only one articulated car but owing to the length of standard multilevel vehicle cars of 93 feet, is the equivalent to 211 cars long.
