In this lecture, we explore gold and noble metal alloys, including high-, medium-, and low-gold alloys, as well as silver-palladium alloys. We cover in detail the concept of cohesive gold filling—its properties, advantages, disadvantages, and clinical applications.
The lecture also explains gold casting alloys, their four main types, and the reason why Type III and Type IV gold alloys can be hardened through heat treatment, using the silver-copper and gold-copper phase diagrams as reference.
Additionally, we discuss the basic concepts of welding, soldering, brazing, and dental fluxes, emphasizing their importance in restorative dentistry.
