Modernizing the ALTA Railway: ALTA 15

In this ALTA railway update we design a passenger locomotive paint scheme inspired by Raymond Loewy. We also install switch machines and permanently install the rolling lift bridge along the Interurban line.

The side dump steel car, nicknamed Battleships and dating from 1902, didn't have a Common Standard or SP class - they were just "100,000 lb self-cleaning side-dump car", and were designed by the Pressed Steel Car Co. The Harriman coach is a C-60-1, built in 1910. These were the original Harriman cars, 67' long. The "suburban" commute cars seen into the 1960's were 80' cars. They're reasonable prototypes for my location and era, and the short lengths also makes them particularly friendly towards my layout. The MDC cars were rough models of the C-60 cars, though with the upper panes of the windows removed and the car shortened. Ken Kidder also made models of the C-60 class - the roof curve is a little shallow, but they're also nice cars. I got interested in 3d printing the C-60-1 when the eBay Ken Kidder cars went over $60.
