It’s the week before I fly back to the U.S. — my first time since Melissa died — and everything inside me feels unsettled.
There’s no crisis, nothing actually wrong… but my body hasn’t gotten the message.
I’ve been crying more again — at the new Springsteen movie with my daughter, on a quiet bridge in Paris, walking through the city that Melissa loved but never got to see again. Even small moments of beauty carry so much weight now.
I’ve been listening to Simon Sinek talk about reinvention and gratitude, and it hit me:
you don’t reinvent yourself by charging forward — you do it by stepping back, losing your ego, and learning through hardship.
In this episode, I talk about:
The strange anxiety that builds right before change
Leaving my daughter in France for five weeks
Finding comfort in motion when stillness feels unbearable
What Springsteen and Simon Sinek reminded me about meaning and loss
Why pain is sometimes the only honest teacher
Movement helps. Gratitude helps — even when it’s the last thing you feel.
If you’re in that restless space between grief and renewal, you’re not alone.
