"Eukrasia" is a fully electronic piece and illustration of acousmatic music–an instance of sound being heard without visual source. Additionally, audio files may be altered and corrupted to the point where the audience may not be able to easily recognize its origin.
The piece is centered around the concept of humorism, a medical practice in past histories that is concerned with equilibrium of the body, particularly in four main fluids. The first area is “black bile,” is a physical manifestation of the melancholia, often influencing stomach issues and other bodily ailments. The second area is “yellow bile,” is a fluid produced by the liver, often associated with aggression and ambition. The third area is “phlegm,” often portrayed as reserved. The last area is “blood,” the source of energy for the body and soul. “Eukrasia” occurs when all four areas reach a point of equilibrium within the body.
