After 40,000 kilometers of touring, commuting, and adventures, my Yamaha FZS V2 started showing signs of rear suspension failure. The monoshock suspension was leaking oil, and the ride quality had noticeably dropped.
So I took my bike to Moto Hunt to get it inspected. As suspected, the rear monoshock was completely damaged and beyond repair — as monoshocks typically are.
✅ I had already planned ahead for this, so I immediately bought a Gabriel branded monoshock which is fully compatible with the FZS V2. We installed it on the spot.
🛠️ On my way back, I shared tips on how to get the maximum lifespan from your monoshock, such as:
Avoiding potholes and rough terrain when possible
Maintaining correct tyre pressure
Not overloading your motorcycle
Getting periodic checks during servicing
Though monoshocks cannot be repaired, taking care of them can easily give you 35,000–40,000 KM of solid performance — just like mine did.
