大家平安吉祥
May you be blessed with peace and joy.
今天要和各位講戒定真香
Today I will elaborate on
the real incense of precepts and meditation.
如果大家常常參加佛教活動的人
If you often attend
the Buddhist activities,
在佛門裡面做什麼法會
there are usually some ceremonies
in the Buddha gate.
它有的時候
Sometimes,
唱六句的叫作爐香乍爇
we chant the 6 verses
All the Dharma Realm receives the fragrance.
叫六句的讚子
The verses are composed of 6 lines.
它有的時候比較複雜一點
Sometimes some verses
are more complicate,
唱八句的
like the 8-line verse
戒定真香的讚子
the real incense of precepts and meditation.
就時間比較長一點
It takes us longer time
in chanting it.
你們各位會唱爐香讚嗎
Everyone, do you know how to
chant the praise of incense
會唱戒定真香讚嗎
or the real incense of
precepts and meditation?
戒定真香、佛寶讚、法寶讚
Praise of incense, precepts and meditation,
Buddha Gem, Dharma Gem
都是叫作八句
are all chanted in 8 verses.

在佛門裡專門的術語
are special terms used in Buddhism.
戒定真香這一個讚
As for the praise of the real
incense of precepts and meditation,
你看戒定真香 焚起衝天上
When the incense of precepts
and meditation burns and pervades,
弟子虔誠來跟佛來接心
all the disciples come to connect
with the Buddha by heart.
爇在金爐
With the fragrance from the censer
跪在你的前面
they knee down in front of the Buddha.
這個意義很好
It presents us with some good meaning.
為什麼
Why?
我也不是光獻一盆花
I don't just offer a pot of flowers
敬個水果
or fruits.
我不是這樣子來恭敬佛
I don't do this to
pay respect to the Buddha.
我的供養是用我的戒
I offer my precepts.
戒就是我守法、我守道
Precept upholding is my discipline
and obedience to the path.
我守慈悲
I follow compassion.
我守佛你給我的開示
I follow the teachings of the Buddha.
忍耐
I have endurance,
我知道世間真理
and I know the truth in the world.
我不去殺生、不去偷盜
I don't kill and I don't steal.
不去邪淫、不去妄語、不去吸毒
I don't go whoring, lie and take drugs.
我不去侵犯別人
I don't offend others.
我用我自己的好像五戒
With a sincere heart,
我用這樣子的守戒的心
I perform upholding the precept.
我來像一個真香來供養
I use fragrance and incense
或者我用禪定
or I use my meditation for offering.
這個定也不是說我只有打坐
The medication doesn't only
refer to the act of medication.
我能夠把我平常的定力、安住
I use my will power to discipline
我的行為
my behaviors.
所謂諸惡莫作 眾善奉行
Do no evil. Practice all good.
我自己能可以掌控自己
I can control myself.
我行慈悲、做好事
I practice compassion
and do good deeds
那麼戒和定 甚至智慧
with percept, meditation, wisdom
我的聰明智慧
and intelligence.
把我的戒、定、智慧
My precepts, meditation and wisdom
一起供養諸佛菩薩
are all offered to the
buddhas and bodhisattvas.
把自己的身心
I offer
我的身體、心
my body and mind
都來供養佛菩薩
to the buddhas and bodhisattvas.
這叫戒定真香
This is called the real incense
of precepts and meditation..
這才是真的香
This is the real fragrance.
不是說買一個香
You don't have to buy incenses
比多長、多高
that are long and tall,
那個是沒有用的
as it's meaningless.
所以因此在佛門裡面
Therefore, in the Buddha gate,
你不是形相上而已
you can't just focus on physical form.
你要從意義上去瞭解、去奉行
You have to understand
and practice the meanings behind.
所以我們學佛的各位居士們
So my dear devotees,
你們不要只是在這個形相上
you can't just do something superficial
以為是
and think that you have
我拜佛了、燒香了、供果了
already paid respect to the Buddha
with incense and fruits.
還要在自己的修行上真心
You must cultivate your true mind,
用戒、定、慧像真香一樣
like the real incense of precepts,
meditation and wisdom
來上供諸佛
and offer it to the buddhas.
這才是真的供養
This is the true offering.
