Nörvenich. A few weeks ago I had never even heard about this German air base. Situated near Cologne, this airfield is home to around 30 Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets from the Luftwaffe. Personally I am not really into fighter jets I had to make an exception last monday. A historic event took place at the air base. Several planes from the Israeli Air Force arrived in Germany for the BlueWings 2020 joint exercise with the Germans. Beside the fighters and the other planes there was one plane in particular having my interest. And I was not dissappointed! The IAF sended not one but two of their beautiful Boeing 707's to Nörvenich! These are original 707's, equipped with the original, amazing sounding Pratt&Whitney JT3D engines. They provided the Israeli fighters with fuel for the journey from Israel to Germany. These birds are from 1974 and 1977! The first 707 first did two fly-by's with a couple of fighters nearby. Then it did a nice approach and landing where if you look closely, you can see that the front doorlock is not properly in place! Soon after 707 number 2 approached the runway and surprised the large crowd of spotters with a fantastic
go-around! The second approach became a full-stop landing. I also caught both 707's departing from a head on position. The first one made a left turn quickly after take off. The second one did not do so which caused a problem for me with my tripod. That's why I edited a small bit of the footage of LaMa Aviation in the video, with permission offcourse. If you are a longer subscriber you might remember that I caught a Spanish Air Force Boeing 707 at Ramstein Air Base back in 2015. That was my very first 707 catch! And now I can add these two Israeli birds aswell! Offcourse I caught a couple of E-3a's and KC-135's. But those were not built with the real 707 name. These two are real 707's though, two brilliant flying pieces of history! What a privilege to see these still flying in 2020! The looks and the sounds of these birds are unique, and amazing! I hope you enjoy the video! More to come!
