S5:E28 TOP TEN MOVEMENT DRILLS

The absolute most important skill a goalie needs is elite movement There are a million movement drill variations but these are 10 drills that you can use to help your goalies in practice. And if you are the goalie and not the coach, strive to do drills like these every single time you are on the ice.

Donovan Warren from the London Junior Knights helped us demonstrate the movement drills today. There are some key points I want to emphasize.

1. Once you learn a movement drill always practice it at game speed.
2. As a goalie coach notice how I didn’t correct every single little issue like post attachment etc. These errors always get corrected in time but when learning or teaching a drill, focus on getting the big parts dialed in first and then you can worry about little details later. A clear sign of an ineffective goalie coach is one who tries to fix every error, every rep.

If you become the best skating goalie in the league you will also certainly be one of the best goalies in the league.
