When we were growing up, chances are that some emotions were more acceptable and other emotions were less acceptable. Our bodies then helped us support our acceptable "core" emotions and hold back on less acceptable emotions.
We also develop "patterned emotions" (involving overregulating or underregulating strategies) that are easier to feel which cover over our more authentic and raw "core emotions."
Regaining a fuller access to our emotions (including less familiar core emotions) can help us feel great vitality, adapt better to current situations, and improve relationships.
In this video, Dr. May will explain these concepts and provide exercises which can help.
