In a beautiful high mountain setting is crystal clear Alpine Lake.
Near Stanley, Idaho are the rugged Sawtooth Mountains. The Alpine Lake trail is just one of many. Located just below sister lake, Sawtooth, Alpine lake is definitely more photogenic and beautiful. The trail was a little over 8 miles round trip for us because we explored the lake shore area. You do gain 1200 feet in elevation but, it is a gradual gain with a few steeper switchbacks closer to the top. As I'm sure you have noticed, we are an older couple in our 50's who enjoy the outdoors and photography. We are trying to stay active. The trick to getting older is to just keep moving!
