Acupuncture is the most popular form of alternative medicine in the West.
The first written description of acupuncture occured in China around 100 BCE in a book called the Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine.
From there it gradually spread across the world over the next 2000 years, and it's popularity exploded in the 1970s in the Western World despite the proven benefits of mainstream medicine.
So is there any actual evidence that acupuncture can treat diseases, or is it just another sham treatment?
